IT was a frustrating night for Thornbury A as they suffered their first defeat of the season.

The As played host to a new look Bath University side who took the early initiative.

Callum Davidson and Brad Jenkins both lost 3-1 after winning their opening games whilst Swiss star Céline Walser was edged out 3-2 in a close affair. Craig Webb and Sam Davidson salvaged some good points for Thornbury wining 3-0 and 3-2.

A tough loss to take for Thornbury A who will look to get there title challenge back on track next week.

Thornbury B team were away to Lansdown B with a solid result achieved on the night.

There were 3-1 wins for both Rob Livingstone (number five) and Justin Edwards (number four). Up next were Alex Mcmillan (number one) and Mark Toseland (number two) who both made it look easy on the night achieving significant 3-0 wins.

With the overall match already secured, Chris Hutchence (number three) and his opponent put on a very entertaining show to a packed balcony with Chris ultimately taking the match 3-2.

Next week Thornbury travel to Chew Valley with a positive mind set to help secure the much needed points to have a chance of winning the Division One league.

Thornbury C team secured a healthy win against BAWA B. The team was boosted by the presence of the Hall family (Alex and Cliff) who played at positions one and two.

Cliff made a heroic come back from two games down to win 3-2 and Alex was on form flying round the court and eventually wore down his opponent to win 3-1.

A steady performance from the rest of the team resulted in picking up maximum points which is much needed after two previous defeats this season.

Despite the 4th team being strengthened by the inclusion of Dale Curtis, Mick Dixon and Nick Clifton another heavy defeat was inflicted, this time by Vivo by a margin of 19 points to three.

Only Dale and Nick picked up points with the latter coming back from a 2-0 deficit but losing 3-2 in a seesaw match. Graham Dono and Bill Ellis both lost 3-0.
