Pucklechurch 3 Thornbury 1

THORNBURY started in promising fashion and had the chance to take an early lead through Nicki Bruce but her shot hit the keeper and the chance was lost.

The home side initiated a couple of isolated attacks into the Thornbury half with captain Laura Stone prominent.

The young Thornbury side were well served by Megan Allen, Yasmin Banfield and Keelin Hales whilst Carys Allen, Elaine Arnold and Rosie Liddington were sound in defence.

Melinda Evans and Alex Arnold contributed towards a number of pleasing passing movements with Anna Prince and Megan McLachlan prominent with some well timed runs towards the home goal.

Thornbury had a number of near misses following their solitary goal scored by the promising Lu-Lu Taylor in the first half following an excellent build up involving Anna Prince and Megan Mclachlan.

Sara Newman in goal again saved her side with a couple of fine saves. Thornbury paid the penalty for slowing the game down thus allowing Pucklechurch to equalise through Charlie James and then take control in the second half to score two further goals from Sophie Hitch and Amy Nicolls.

Both sides had goal scoring opportunities which narrowly shaved the posts, the shooters probably being distracted by the white football goals directly behind the hockey goals.

Thornbury hope to return to winning ways on Saturday when Bristol visit Castle School 10.30am.
