Les James League Cup second round.

Thornbury Town 3 Wick 1

A good draw for both teams with either one likely to move into the Semi-final but it was Thornbury Town who progresses with a 3-1 win over Wick.

Thornbury went ahead after 37 minutes from a move down the right which was started and finished by Brandon Benjamin firing the ball home from a very tight angle.

Within a minute it was 2-0 to the home side when Craig Lancastle picked up the ball between the halfway line and the visitor’s 18 yard box pushed forward and then superbly shipped the Wick keeper from the edge of the box.

A minute before the break Wick pulled a goal back when James Pocock headed home at the near post.

The second half started well for the visitors but they failed to create any clear cut chances and on 83 minutes a low hard free kick around the wall by Thornbury’s Toby Bennett sealed the passage for Town into the semi-final.
