THORNBURY Running Club’s team trip to Devon on November 26 also included a select group who took part in the 4.5-mile ‘Bicton Blister Lite’.

There were six runners who took part in the ‘Lite’, which like the longer ‘Bicton Blister’ was raced on the pebbled fields of Bicton and Woodbury common.

There were a variety of different distances being contested on the day including 10k, half marathon, marathon, Ultra and for the diehards like Rob, the Ultra Plus.

As well as the distance and the changing terrain, there was 2450m of ascent to contend with along the hilly coastal path of this World Heritage site.

After a long day, Rob’s final position was 56th in a time of 10 hours 19:31 mins.

Thornbury runners were at three local parkruns on Saturday.

The runners are encouraged to don a Xmas outfit and there was a wild variety of Santas, Elfs and other festive costumes on display.

After coming back with medals galore from the previous weekend’s Bicton Blister, Thornbury’s women swept the leaderboard once again.

In 10k race Joanne Emerson was the first female and 13th overall in 54:15 mins, followed by Emma Barnes in 2nd place and 19th overall in 57:26 mins.
