THORNBURY A played host to Redland A in a top of the Premier A table clash between the leading sides. 

With only two points separating the teams at the start of proceedings this was already set to be the match of the season.

Thornbury took the initiative as Sam Davidson beat his opponent for the second time this season in a thrilling 3-1 victory.

Ryan Wilson then suffered a heavy defeat losing 3-0 leaving the match evenly poised.

Craig Webb gave Thornbury the advantage battling to another 3-0 win and then Callum Davidson stepped up to seal the match for Thornbury with a mature and dominant 3-0 win.

Jeremy Harris was left to wrap the tie up with a tactical masterclass winning 3-1.

The match score was 16-5 in Thornbury's favour which now means they have their sights set on their first ever Premier A title.

Thornbury B were away against a strong David Lloyd Lovecars side. Apart from an impressive 3-0 win for number one Brad Jenkins, there were heavy 3-0 defeats for Alex McMillan and Alex Hall. Rob Livingstone restored some credability in his match as he played well, had his chances, but was edged out 3-1.

Justin Edwards gave it his best shot with two close games but ultimately lost 3-0.

The overall result was 16-4 to David Lloyd Lovecars.

Thornbury C were hosts to Bath Uni thirds with the hope that experience would prevail over youth.

Bruce Newman, Nick Clifton and Pete Bowen all had lengthy hour long five game matches which somehow all resulted in a 3-2 loss.

Captain Ian Johnson went 2-0 down but seemed to be getting it together in the third with a 6-1 lead, however exhaustion took hold and he was unable to prevent a 3-0 loss.

Man of the match was Cliff Hall in the number one slot showed the rest of the team how it should be done with a comfortable 3-0 win.

So on this occasion youth prevailed over experience with an overall match score 16-9 to Bath University.
