THORNBURY teenager Tabitha De N’Yeurt has been selected for the second year running to play for the England Fencing squad at an international tournament next month.

N’Yeurt will travel to Poland as part of the U15 Girls Foil squad, representing England again at the ‘Challenge Wratislavia’ which will take place in the city of Wroclaw between March 23-26.

Her selection completes a remarkable season where she has worked hard to compete across five different age ranges, from U14 to senior level.

At just 14 years old, Tabitha has had to adjust her fencing technique to suit opponents older, stronger and more agile.

However, she has done so with success, recently becoming the South West’s U16 Girl’s Foil champion.

The Castle School student trains five times a week at Thornbury Active Lifestyle Centre.

Tabitha said: “Competing across different age ranges has been a challenge but consistent training and setting realistic goals have helped me to secure a position on the England squad.”
