FRESH from their dream result last week, Thornbury A made the long journey to league strugglers Shepton Mallet A.

Looking to stretch their lead at the top captain Brad Jenkins and Craig Webb came through five set games both winning 3-2 which later became crucial victories.

In-form Callum Davidson brushed aside his opponent 3-0 followed by Ryan Wilson also strolling to a 3-0 win.

Sam Davidson was defeated for just the second time this season in a gruelling 3-2 loss but a overall match score of 18-7 increases Thornbury's lead at the top of the Premier A league to 25 points with three games to go.

Thornbury B were up against a strong Bristol Harbourside B squad which was tweaked since the first encounter.

Alex McMillan got off to a great start taking the first game but was pinned back and lost 3-1.

Mark Toseland suffered his second heaviest defeat for the club losing 27-1.

In-form Alex Hall showed the spectators how it should be done winning the match 3-1 with a 9-1, 9-0 and 9-1 chucked in for good measure.

Captain Justin Edwards played an opponent way above his station but managed to secure a game with Chris Hutchence putting in a classic 3-2 nail-biter at the end of a late night with his opponent having 8 match points overturned. The overall result was 16-8 to Bristol Harbourside.

Thornbury C suffered another crushing defeat this week against Bristol Harbourside E. Captain Ian Johnson won 3-0 comfortably and Dale Curtis managed a much deserved 3-2 win.

However, Viv Bailey-Gard couldn't seem to find his rhythm against his partner's awkward playing style losing 3-0 and Cliff Hall managed to pick up a game against his stronger opponent.

Rob Livigstone was up against a very strong Prem A standard player and despite getting a few runs of points, no games were won. Overall match score 15-7 to Harbourside.

The team now have plenty of work to do in the latter half of the season to avoid relegation.

Thornbury D played away at UWE against Kingswood, fielding a mostly university based team.

Colin Preece started off proceedings narrowly losing the first game, a change of tactics enabled Preece to win in the second but he then ran out of steam eventually losing 3-1.

Nick Clifton's court coverage ability assisted in running his opponent into the ground resulting in a 3-1 win, however Mark Dalziel struggled with his opponent’s casual playing style losing 3-0.

Graham Dono then managed a comfortable 3-0 win leaving the match in the balance at 2-2. Pete Bowen narrowly lost the first game in the tie breaker 8-10 but his opponent picked up his game to run out a 3-0 victor. The match ended with a 14-7 defeat for Thornbury.
