Stroud and District League Division Three
Taverners Reserves 1 Thornbury Town Reserves 3
THORNBURY'S second string got back to winning ways on Saturday following last week’s unexpected defeat at Whitminster, when they travelled to Nailsworth to play fourth placed Taverners.
They made a bright start, taking the game to their hosts. All the goals came in the first half with Tom Stewart, with a cracking goal, Mitch Benjamin and Nathan Irwin getting on the scoresheet.
They created a number of chances in the second period and would not have been flattered if they had scored a couple more. The defence looked solid with Matt Lansdown and Mike Grove keeping a tight rein on the Taverners strikers.
A well deserved win which keeps the Reserves in third position and in the hunt for a promotion place.
