Keynsham 2nds 102 ao lost to Almondsbury 205-7 by 103 runs

AARON Jones took over as skipper in the absence of Garth Jackson but this did not deter Almondsbury as they ran out convincing winners by 103 runs.

Batting first, the visitors soon lost Matt Wood (5) and Kyle Hartigan (3) but Andy Parkinson soon found a willing partner in Mike Perham as the runs began to accumulate. When Parkinson fell for 25, Perham found further support from Jack Kewley (21) then 25 from Skipper Jones. Perham himself completed a well constructed knock when he finally fell for a quality 82 and Almondsbury’s innings concluded on 205-7. For Keynsham, wickets were claimed by Sam Lowe 1-41, Jonty Flynne 2-38, Chris Britton 1-36, John Courtney 2-38, and Will Burston 1-29.

In reply, openers Millard (3) and Bursten (0) were soon back in the pavilion falling to Aaron Jones and Sam Robertson respectively, but Chris Gwyther (32) found good support from Ian Fiebelkorn (25) and latterly Ben Whittington with 17 as they took the score onto 82-3. However, the heart was soon ripped out of Keynsham as they collapsed to 103 all out. Matt Smith 9-1-17-1, Andy Parkinson 5.5-1-17-3, Aaron Jones 5-0-17-1, Sam Robertson 5-0-27-1, Jason Smith 5-0-20-2 and Jack Kewley 2-1-1-1 all played their part in this thoroughly convincing victory.

A depleted Almondsbury took on Thornbury at the field and found themselves the victims of an 8 wicket thrashing. Batting first, Almondsbury amassed 173-6 in their allotted overs with Steve Braund (39) and Dean May (32 not) making good contributions but it was Guy Long with a constructive 51 who proved the backbone of the innings. Dan Botha 9-1-31-2 being the pick of the Thornbury bowlers.

In reply, Thornbury paved their way through an Almondsbury bowling attack lacking in control with Simon Weeks (69) and Dan Botha (59) doing the bulk of the Thornbury scoring. Thornbury eventually reached their target inside 28 overs with only sexagenarians Mike Smith 4-0-26-1 and Fraser Pepall 5-1-21-1 claiming wickets for the home side.
