Almondsbury Cricket Club round-up
IT was a bad weekend for Almondsbury as both the first and second XIs posted totals in excess off two hundred on Saturday and still finished up on the losing side.
Almondsbury firsts entertained Bitton in the Bristol and District Association First Division and posted 205-8 in their 45 overs with a number of cameo innings spread throughout.
Parkinson (34), Perham (31) and Aaron Jones (40) all scored at a good rate interspersed with a patient knock of 31 from 73 balls by Matt Wood.
Brown 2-48, Mansfield 1-47, Wardle 1-30, Concannon 3-50, and Dyer 1-36 claiming the wickets for Bitton.
In reply, the visitors surpassed the Almondsbury total with nine balls to spare with George Wilshire finishing undefeated on 99.
Liam Hartigan 1-26, Andy Parkinson 1-31 and Aaron Jones 9-1-43-4 claimed wickets for Almondsbury but it was not enough as the home side encountered defeat for the first time this season.
In the second team's Bristol District Association Eighth Division match, Gary Goodwin took his side to BAC and went down by four wickets.
Batting first, Almondsbury appeared to have set an imperious total of 289-7 with skipper Goodwin making 72, Tom Burgess 71, Kannan 35, Slave 30 not out and Guy Long 29.
However, this total left the visitors wanting as BAC completed their task with 11 balls to spare. Kammula (54), Sale (79) and Vinjamuri 38 not out doing the damage for the home side.
