West of England Premier League Prem 2 Glos/Wilts

Biddestone 134 ao lost to Thornbury 178 ao by 44 runs

THORNBURY continued their march at the top of the West of England Premier League Prem 2 Glos/Wilts with their fourth victory of the league season, this time away at Biddestone.

They got off to a reasonable start with openers Dan Davies and Nick Willis-Stovold making fifty runs before Davis was caught for 27.

Vishal Mamgai came in at number three but only managed 16 balls before he was also caught, having accumulated three runs.

It was the story of the top order as Dan Lezar departed for a duck, captain Luke Davis went for nine, and number seven Ed Webb was run-out for nought.

In came wicketkeeper Sam Summerfield who threw his bat around. He and stubborn Danny Slade, who stuck around for 48 balls for his 15 runs, took Thornbury from 103-6 to 151-7 before Slade departed.

Summerfield carried on until he lost his wicket when clean bowled for 45 from 41 balls. Marcus Wormwell made ten at the end before Thornbury were all out for 178.

In reply, Biddestone lost wickets, with opener Dwaine Perry the only one to stick around, as he made forty runs before Dan Davis clean bowled him.

The Thornbury attack was on top with Harry Wormwell taking three wickets, including the late dangerman Liam Boulton, who made 31, with Luke Davis taking two wickets as did Dan Davis as Biddestone struggled to 134 all out and gave Thornbury the victory.
