Winterbourne seconds 95 all out lost to Almondsbury 176-9 by 81 runs

FIRST played second in this early season top of the table battle with Almondsbury finishing up as convincing winners.

Batting first, Almondsbury began well quickly reaching 92-2 thanks to a flamboyant 51 from Liam Hartigan.

However, Almondsbury then collapsed as Winterbourne soon reduced them to 124-9 but Mike Frolich found a willing partner in Matt Smith and the pair put on an undefeated 52 for the last wicket.

Frolich finished 42 not out which included some fine stroke play and Matt Smith 3 not out from 40 balls playing the perfect foil for his partner.

Lewis Ford 9-1-39-1, Chris Shine 9-0-33-1, Aaron Blake 9-2-40-5 and Glyn Howell 9-3-17-2 were the Winterbourne wicket takers in Almondsbury's challenge of 176-9.

In reply, Winterbourne were put under pressure from the start by some fine Almondsbury bowling. Skipper Garth Jackson 4-0-20-1 and Aaron Jones 5.4-0-17-2 claimed the first 2 wickets to fall but it was once again the combination of Frolich 9-2-38-4 and Matt Smith 8-1-20-3 who ripped the heart out of the Winterbourne side dismissing them for 95 leaving Almondsbury victors by 81 runs.
