Danny Butler suffers defeat to Brett Flournoy in Prizefighter light middleweight series

SPANIORUM Farm Gym boxer Danny Butler lost in the quarter-finals of Sky’s Prizefighter light middleweight series last night.

The 22-year-old Western Area and British Masters middleweight champion was beaten by 30-year-old Brett Flournoy in a unanimous decision, 30-27, 30-27, 29-28.

Flournoy went onto reach the final at York Hall, where he suffered the first loss of his career to Prince Arron.

It was the first time Butler fought in the 11st 2lb division after slimming down for the competition, and the second time he competed in Prizefighter after reaching the semi-final of the middleweight series in November 2008.
