Scott Brice breaks his toe for Almondsbury Town against Bristol Manor Farm

ALMONDSBURY TOWN centre-back Scott Brice faces a race against time to be fit for the start of the season.

The former Yate Town captain broke a toe in the 1-0 win over Western League Premier side Bristol Manor Farm last Thursday and could miss the club’s first ever game in the Southern League when they visit Paulton Rovers on Saturday, August 14.

Boss Richard Thompson has made signing a left back his priority before the campaign gets underway, so any deal for former Sheffield Wednesday and Bristol Rovers winger Mark McKeever has been put on the back burner.

Meanwhile, Joe White has made a good start to life at his new club after hitting all of their goals in two wins over the last week.

The former Bristol Rovers striker found the target twice in the 2-0 win at County League side Axa on Tuesday night after hitting the winner against Bristol Manor Farm.

Thompson said: “Bristol Manor Farm are a young side, a fit side and that’s what you want in pre-season, it’s all about fitness.

“Axa was a more comfortable fixture, we got the ball down to play a bit and because we were short on numbers everyone got a chance to play 90 minutes, so it sets us up nicely for Chippenham.”

Almondsbury are at home to Southern League Premier side Chippenham tomorrow night (Friday, 7.45pm).
