The Village Cricket League Twenty20 Final produced a nail biting last ball finish.
Winning the toss, a competitive Rockhampton side scored 178 from their 20 overs with notable performances coming from Matt Tyler (73) and Jack Spence (34*).
However, Biddestone were not over-awed by such a demanding score and were always up with the required rate.
Leading the way was opener Jamie Mitchell (84*), who carried his bat through to the end of the innings.
With one run needed from two balls for victory, Rhys Merriman hit the ball to the boundary to give the youthful Biddestone side success.
The game was played in a good spirit by both teams.
Biddestone have now won the VCL Twenty20 Cup three times in the last five seasons.
WEPL Glos/Wilts Division Rockhampton (35-1) v Biddestone Match Abandoned
ROCKHAMPTON’S clash with promotion rivals Biddestone was a victim of the weather on Saturday.
After being put into bat in a match already reduced to 46 overs due to rain, the Rams reached 35-1 before proceedings were eventually brought to a halt.
Skipper Matt Tyler was left unbeaten on 20 with Rowan Cartlidge at the other end on six, after Jerry White was caught by Lawrence Roots off Naeem Khan for five.
Rockhampton remain third in the table with three games to play and this Saturday travel to Gloucester City Winget, who replaced Biddestone at the top after beating Swindon last week.
SDCA & Lords Premier League Frocester 4th XI (150) lost to Rockhampton 3rd XI (169-9) by 19 runs
The thirds regained momentum to stay top of the league with another thrilling victory in a rain affected game at Frocester.
The visitors were put into bat on what started as a bone dry track, but made slow progress early on.
The first of two rain interruptions changed the game as the wicket became difficult to bat and bowl on. The Rams recovered to make steady progress with Paul Williams (46), Steve Ives (40) and Greg Morgan (23) enabling them to post an intriguing target of 170.
The pick of the bowling was Jake Roberts (5-35) and Seb Choudry (3-47).
The home side made a confident start until an inspired double bowling change saw skipper Tom Cullimore (4-35) begin to slow Frocester’s progress with spinner Tom Coates (2-33) taking the crucial wicket of opener Mark Jefferson (45).
As the pitch began to dry, Frocester remained favourites but the Rams are making a habit of pinching tight games and so it proved as the light began to fade.
Wickets continued to fall as Rockhampton turned the screw to take a hard fought victory that keeps them at the top with three games to play.
