THORNBURY TOWN have acted swiftly to appoint Roy Irwin as their new manager following the recent resignation of Richard Lee.
A club statement said: “Roy is no stranger to the club having played for them over a number of seasons in the past at various levels and brings a wealth of experience, which is anticipated will benefit the long-term future of the club at all levels.”
Lee was appointed Thornbury manager in the summer after the long-serving Dave Lippiatt stood down, but the club have been struggling in the bottom half of the County League table this season.
Nathan Irwin - Roy Irwin’s son – has been in charge for the last four games and will continue in his role as player-coach, with Wayne Harwood remaining as assistant manager and Malcolm Carr as physiotherapist.
