TYTHERINGTON ROCKS have been granted planning permission to build floodlights at the Hardwicke Playing Fields.

The Hellenic League Division One West league leaders need to have them in place by the start of the 2013/14 season when new FA rules come in place to continue playing at their current level.

If the club apply for promotion to the Hellenic Premier Division, they would need to have the floodlights installed before the start of next season in order to go up and also upgrade other facilities, which would include increasing the seating capacity.

Tytherington maintained their 19-point gap at the top of the table with a 4-0 win over Wootton Bassett Town on Saturday to gain revenge for their 5-1 defeat earlier in the season.

Manager Gary Powell said: “The news about the floodlights is all about progress for the club and where they want to be and our players are helping because they want to beat everyone.

“The club have changed so much in the last six months and it all came from the board, our squad and everyone behind Tytherington.”

Since Christmas, Tytherington have fired 36 goals in six unbeaten matches and they practically passed lacklustre Wootton Bassett off the park.

However, it took 37 minutes before the Rocks went ahead. Man of the match Jason Wood was the creator when he put Marc Hughes in at an acute angle and the Rocks captain managed to spoon his shot into the net.

After the interval, the Rocks found a higher gear. They won five consecutive corners and in the 50th minute Wood crossed superbly and Nick Jones, in place of suspended Andy Criddle, drove home his first goal of the season.

In the 58th minute Wood scored his ninth goal of the campaign with an opportunist header to put the Rocks 3-0 up.

Powell then brought on new signing Joe White, son of ex-Swindon Town goal-ace Steve, as the Rocks went on plundering the away goal and they got their fourth 12 minutes from time.

Mooney headed a Wood corner over the Wootton Bassett defence into the path of Colboure, who spun the bouncing ball into the net to score his 11th goal of the season.

In the last minute, former Yate and Almondsbury Town striker White lobbed over the stricken goalkeeper but his effort was cleared.

Tytherington have a week off and their next game is at home to Penn and Tylers Green in the Supplementary Cup on Saturday, February 4, 2.30pm.

However, the Reserves are home against Southmead Athletic on Saturday, 2.30.pm.

They won away to Whitchurch last week with the only goal of the game being a penalty converted by Jack Neale.
