Danny Butler leaves Spaniorum Farm Gym after split with Tex Woodward

BRISTOL boxer Danny Butler has split with manager Tex Woodward.

The 24-year-old middleweight has been training at Spaniorum Farm gym in Compton Greenfield for 12 years, where he was trained by Woodward and former women’s world champion Jane Couch, but he has now signed a deal with Andy O’Kane and will train at Paddy John’s gym in Kingswood, Bristol.

He said: “Tex and Jane Couch did a brilliant job getting me to the level I’m at now and I’ll always be grateful to them, but I felt I needed a new challenge at this stage of my career.

“It was nothing personal with Tex, but I had been with him at the Spaniorum Gym for 12 years and felt it was time for a change.”

Butler fought for the Bristol title two in 2009, but lost to Darren Barker.
