Thornbury's Trinity Booth wins ladies' race at Ultra 45/90 event

THORNBURY Running Club’s Trinity Booth was the first lady home in the Ultra 45/90 race.

This trail from Northampton to Tring includes towpaths and tunnels, and competitors run 45 miles in one direction on Saturday, and then the same distance to return on Sunday.

Booth completed the distance in 7:34:24 on day one, slowing slightly to 8:49:16 on day two.

In training for that race she finished as the second lady in the Country to Capital 45-mile race from Wendover in Buckinghamshire, through the Chilterns to Little Venice.

She finished a mere 30 seconds behind the winner, in six hours, 50 minutes, and was 30th overall.

Club captain Rob Watkins also competed in an ultra distance event, completing the Gloucester 50k in 14th position in 3:59:21.

Neil Roff chose the shorter option, with a marathon time of 3:51:27.

Five Thornbury runners chose to race the 10k Moorland multi-terrain at Henbury, all finishing well in their age categories.

Simon Young led the team in 17th place overall, in 45:15.

Vic Harding in 48:00 just managed to hold off Wilf Burke (48:05) with Nick Langridge in 49:55.

The sole Thornbury lady Nancy Harding was in 81st place, in 53:21.

Thornbury RC meets at Turnberries Community Centre at 7pm on Thursdays for a less challenging run of a mere six to seven miles.

There are four different pace groups, including walkers, and all are welcome.
