Toolstation Western League preview: Winterbourne to make early decision on game against Ilfracombe
10:03am Thursday 24th January 2013 in Yate and Sodbury Sport
WINTERBOURNE UNITED are hoping to play their first game at Oaklands Park since December 1 this Saturday.
They have only played once since beating Bristol Manor Farm on their home patch, losing 3-1 at Toolstation League Premier Division league leaders Brislington almost three weeks ago, and are expected to make an early decision tomorrow (Friday) over whether their fixture against Ilfracombe will go ahead.
Chairman Robyn Maggs said: “We’ve had four home games postponed and we’ve missed the income from gate receipts and over the bar so we’re treading water.”
Winterbourne have added cover for first choice goalkeeper Chris Simsek, with former player Steve Scannell and ex-Taunton stopper Chris Watts signing registration forms to help them retain their Premier Division status.
Meanwhile, fourth placed Hallen, who now trail Brislington by 12 points, are due to visit Longwell Green on Saturday and Radstock Town next Tuesday.
Almondsbury UWE are at home to Welton Rovers in Division One on Saturday and would leapfrog their opponents with a win.
