Gloucester City boss Dave Mehew says Scott Wilson will continue to play for Yate this season

SCOTT WILSON is set to continue his development with Yate Town, despite playing for Gloucester City this week.
The in-form striker, who has been rumoured to be attracting interest from Football League clubs including Dagenham and Redbridge, is registered with both clubs and came on as a substitute in Gloucester's defeat against Halifax Town in Blue Square North on Tuesday before playing for Yate the following night in the 3-1 defeat at Sholing.
Gloucester City boss Dave Mehew wants Wilson to return his side next season, but is happy for him to continue taking the Southern League by storm first.
"If Yate were due to play on Tuesday then I wouldn't have even considered calling Scott into our squad to play Halifax," Mehew said.
"He will go back to Yate for the rest of the season now so he can play every week.
"But if we need him and he's available, like he was on Tuesday, then we may call him back.
"If teams from a higher league come in for him in the summer then he'll go there, but if it's teams from our level or below, then I would like to think we hold the trump card.
"We've looked after him and I would like to think that I know him better and it looks as though he's now nearly ready for regular Conference North football.
"The plan has always been to call him back into our squad next season, knowing that he's improved as a player and got the grounding of playing in competitive football."
Wilson is in Yate's squad to face Paulton Rovers tomorrow.
