CITY moved out of the League One relegation zone on Tuesday night with a superb 3-1 victory at Leyton Orient.

The O’s were the division’s early pace-setters and have remained in the top three for most of the season, but against the odds City pulled off a vital victory to take us up to 17th in the League One table.

This was comfortably the best performance I have seen from City all season.

We got off to a flying start, pressing Orient high up the pitch and scoring two early goals.

The first goal saw an excellent finish from City’s top goalscorer in the league Sam Baldock and the second a powerful header from loanee Tyrone Barnett.

City were in control for the first 30 minutes until inevitably the home side had a good spell.

We sat a little too deep and just before half-time Orient got back into the game when Kevin Lisbie finished coolly following Moore’s parry in the City goal.

I must admit I feared the worst in the second half, but City fought hard and we fully deserved our third and decisive goal courtesy of an Aden Flint header.

It was a memorable win for City given the two club’s respective league positions.

We were strong all over the park but particular mention has to go to Wade Elliott and Marlon Pack in midfield who were both very good.

If we continue to perform close to this level between now and the end of the season then we will finish comfortably in mid-table.

Another big game awaits on Saturday however as Tranmere Rovers visit Ashton Gate in a six pointer.

City are only ahead of Rovers on goal difference and a victory would help pull us further towards safety.

The visitors have one of the better away records in League One and so City will again have to put in a performance to take all three points.
