WITH three of their teams hovering perilously close to the relegation zone, Yate faced some crucial fixtures last weekend.

The men's first team kept their hopes of remaining in the Davis Wood Conference North league alive with a 4-3 win over Bristol and West.

Danny Pearce certainly played his part with a hat-trick and Stu Taylor also hit the target.

The ladies first team lost 1-0 against Team Bath Buccs, but have managed to keep their place in the Premier Division One.

The thirds were on the wrong end of a 4-3 scoreline against South Glos in Berkeley Division Two of the West Women's Hockey League.

However, other results meant that they have survived their first season in this league.

The goals came from Alex Bessex, Tash Child and Alaina Herbert. Player of the match was Lucy Saunders.

Yate B men's also won 4-3 against Bristol UWE in the West Central One League, with goals from Sam Patton, Oscar Hatfield and Nick White, who scored twice.

The thirds won 2-0 against Chippenham D in the East Central Two, with goals from Stu Ford and Tom Cullimore.

Mike Taylor took man of the match honours.

The ladies seconds made it 11 games unbeaten in Berkeley Division One with a 1-1 draw at Wick, Amy Sweet the scorer and Hollie Constable player of the match.
