Chipping Sodbury 30 Ashley Down Old Boys 22
CHIPPING Sodbury beat Ashley Down Old Boys in a close game, which saw the lead change several times.
It was a tense match with plenty of mistakes by both sides.
This was more about pride as Ashley Down were unable to catch Sodbury, who had already secured their safety from relegation.
Chipping Sodbury were 20-19 ahead with ten minutes to go after tries from Dan Bradley, Andy Parsons, captain Phil Player and Lee Ralph before Ashley Down kicked a penalty, taking them into the lead with 22 points.
Chipping Sodbury responded well and dug deep to run in two well worked late tries from Steve Romanowski and Tom Farthing to secure victory.
It would be fair to say that Chipping Sodbury’s league campaign has been a disappointment with tenth likely to be their final position, although ninth is still possible.
One final league fixture remains away at Kingswood on Saturday, April 12, giving Sodbury a chance of a season double in the league over the home side.
