GLOUCESTERSHIRE women turned the tables on Somerset after losing last year, by winning in their first county match at Ardagh BC.

The rink of Val Molton, Pat Baker (both Kingswood & Hanham), Anne White (Arrow) and Sue Osborne (Kingswood & Hanham) were three behind before turning up the heat over the last six ends to score 15 shots and come away with an impressive 29-16 win.

Rita Gerry (Moreton), Val Osmond (Ardagh), Julia Stannard (Nailsworth) and Lindsay Collin (Page Ladies) held a seven shot lead at halfway. Keeping in front over the next 11 ends, they ended up with a 23-15 win.

Iona Bird (Caer Glow), Cynthia Winter-Alsop (Wotton) Kay Gent and Pauline Gunn (both Caer Glow) went behind on 15 ends at 18-14 before jumping into a 22-18 lead and holding on to win 24-21.

Val Ayres (Lydney), Myra Savage (Falcon), Joy Sheward (Cheltenham Whaddon) and Sue Latham (Olveston) were all square at eight all after 10 ends before taking a slender one shot advantage 13-12 after 15 ends. Losing the lead again, they turned it around in the final run-in and won by two shots, 18-16.

Christine Prosser (Gloucester Spa), Maddie Hale (Fairford), Margaret McColl (Cheltenham Spa) and Gill Fry (Gloucester Spa) went from 7-3 up to be 18-11 down and, despite a magnificent last three ends scoring seven shots without reply, they lost by three shots, 21-18.

Sandra Hambidge (Cheltenham), Pat MacGregor, Jackie Ind (both Arrow) and Rachael Hughes (Royal Forest of Dean) gained the early advantage, leading 7-4 before being overtaken to trail 14-10 after 15 ends. The gap widened late on as they ended up suffering a 24-16 defeat.
