YATE Karter Dan Healey has made a promising start to the Herefordshire Raceway Open Grand Prix Championship and is the second-placed novice after six of 14 rounds, running seventh overall out of 28 drivers.
The 16-year-old, who won numerous Championships at Castle Combe, has gone to racing nationally in the Club 100 and the Elite Kart League, including the Hereford Raceway Championship.
At the most recent Hereford meeting, the Yate teenager started fourth in the B final and won his heat to start at the back of the A final (ninth).
He finished fifth overall, taking his first ever first place Novice Trophy.
In his second heat he held his own and finished fifth, taking second place in the Novice category.
As a result, Dan Healey has cut his overall gap from eight to two points with eight rounds to go.
The next race takes place on Sunday.
