NEIL Morgan of Cefn Fforest Angling Club has been crowned the Windmill Fishery 2014 Singles champion, which was held as part of the South Gloucestershire Show.

His catch weighed-in at 85lb 14oz and was accumulated fishing the long pole to the margins with pellet, securing him the cut glass perpetual trophy along with a personal silver salver and cheque for £1,500.

Runner-up was Bristol’s Paul Elmes, who is a regular angler at Windmill and knows the Match Lake well.

His experience earned him a silver salver and cheque for £1,000.

Also using the long pole to the margins and pellet, Elmes landed a total of 52lb 4oz.

Taking third place was Ray Duncan, who was presented a cheque for £500.

Duncan has been a Windmill angler since day one and knows the Fishery well.

He landed 33lb 14oz with long pole and pellet.

The Pairs Final was won by England internationals Des Shipp and Callum Dicks who, between them, landed a massive 119lb 11oz.

They each received a Windmill cut glass perpetual trophy, a personal silver salver and cheque for £1,000.

Newport anglers Phil Weaver and Sean Wilson landed 92lb 2oz between them to finish second.

Amazingly, they both caught exactly half the total weight each at 46lb 1oz.

Weaver’s contribution included two superb hard fighting 13lb Mirror Carp which took over 15 minutes to land.
