IN DIVISION One, Andy Cox got Yate off to a good start at Frampton A, beating Bob Murray, but it went downhill from there.

Frampton ran out 9-1 winners with Abu Saleh and Bill Dawe both unbeaten in singles play.

Nailsworth Phoenix A lost 8-2 at home to Thornbury A with Simon Ward scoring both the wins for the home side.

Dave Reeves was unbeaten for Thornbury and Len Vowles and Ian Maggs each won two.

Maggs and Reeves combined to win the doubles in three.

Again Pessimists could only field two players but still ran out 6-4 winners at Randwick A in Division Two.

Barry Morgan won three and Tim Chancellor two for the visitors, then combined to win the doubles.

Jim Hurford scored a solitary point for the home team.

Another strong performance gave Frampton B an 8-2 victory over visiting Nailsworth A.

Rob Munson scored a maximum and there were two wins each for Simon Philp and Kim Selfe.

Dave Pugh and Wayne Hopkins scored for Nailsworth before Selfe and Munson won the doubles in five from two love down to seal the match.

In Division Three Phoenix D were made to work hard for their 8-2 win against the visiting Frampton C.

Andy Hammond scored a maximum for the home side and was backed up by Phil Vines and Krzysztof Kowalczuk with two each.

Alan Perritt and Brian Cullis both got on the scoresheet, then Vines and Kowalczuk edged a very tight doubles.

Experience triumphed over youth when Frampton D travelled to and beat Phoenix H 8-2 in Division Four.

Harry Cowley scored a win and joined with Sam McIvor to win the doubles for the home side.

But Glanville Watkins and Pete Seville were both unbeaten for the visitors and Dave Hayward scored a brace.

Cam C and Nailsworth B fought out a 5-5 draw.

Lin Callard scored two for home side Cam and there was one win each for Marcia Heaven and Tony Powell.

Dave Watson was the best on the night, scoring a maximum for the visitors, and Mike May scored a brace.

Callard and Heaven sealed the draw, winning the doubles in five.
