Red Insure Cup Second Round
Yate Town 3 Swindon Supermarine 3
(Swindon Supermarine won 7-6 on penalties)
YATE Town conceded late goals in each half before being knocked out of the Southern League Cup by Swindon Supermarine on penalties at Lodge Road on Tuesday night.
The shootout went to sudden death with Marine coming out on top after Jake Jackson missed for Yate and Ross Adams blasted home the decisive spot-kick.
Yate made the perfect start to the tie when Jackson tapped in on eight minutes before Jordan Rogers’ screamer nine minutes later.
However, the visitors hit back with two goals in three minutes before half-time, skipper Adams heading in from a corner in the 41st minute before Eddie Stevens hit the equaliser.
Goalkeeper Sam Warrell allowed Ross Staley’s corner-kick to slip through his grasp into the net just two minutes after the break as Yate went back in front
But the visitors pressed for an equaliser and Aaron Ferris crossed for striker Bradley Gray to slam home Marine’s 88th minute leveller and force the telling shoot-out.
