SOUTHWOLD swimmers Peter Gleed and Jess Shaw have both had success at national competitions.

Gleed, 36, had his best ever medal haul at the British Gas National Masters Championships in Sheffield.

Competing in the 35–39 age group, Gleed took silver in the 200m fly and 400m IM and bronze in the 800m freestyle.

His 400m IM time was an all-time personal best and in both the fly and IM he improved his club records by over five seconds.

Shaw, 15 represented Gloucestershire in the British Gas Division Two ASA County Team Championships, also in Sheffield.

Swimming against the top swimmers from 17 other counties, Shaw secured third place in the 100 backstroke and seventh in the 100m breaststroke.

She also swam the opening leg of the 200m medley relay, handing over in second place.

Shaw improved on her club 15-year-old and open records for both the 50m and 100m backstroke.
