OLVESTON'S Paul Bryant will face the rising star of Gloucestershire bowls - Cheltenham's Nathan Kitchen - in the final of the singles competition next month.

Bryant is looking for the title again ten years after winning it in 2005, and got through the semi-finals against Coleford's Chris Davies on Saturday.

Having to come from 3-0 down in the early stages, two fours and a three put Bryant in the driving seat with a 14-8 lead and although the gap closed to three shots another three put him within sight of a final appearance.

The win was secured on the 19th end with a double for a 21-15 victory in their semi played at Fairford Bowling Club.

The other semi saw Kitchen up against Dave Shaw (Canford) with the Cheltenham man immediately gaining the upper hand taking a 6-1 lead.

Not to be outdone, Shaw responded with a four and a two to draw level at 9-9. Kitchen then grabbed a four and hit a purple patch from the 14th end that saw him pick up two two’s and a three to be within one shot of victory. That duly came for a 21-11 win and another final.
