Yate Town 0 Evesham United 0
YATE Town battled hard and grabbed another Evo-Stik Southern League Division One South and West point at Lodge Road over Evesham United.
It was a tough match as Evesham have been unbeaten away from home this season and, while both sides lacked the cutting edge to get the victory, it was an evenly fought contest.
Yate’s newly-resigned ace Jake Cox, who joined from Mangotsfield United on Friday, had a great first match.
The best chance of the first half fell to Evesham’s George Washbourne, but after rounding Yate goalkeeper Martin Horsell, he rolled his shot wide of the post, when he seemed certain to score.
At the other end, Evesham’s Kevin Sawyer made a smart stop from Harry Horton. Evesham finished the half on top, with Nick Stanley lifting his shot too high and then firing into the side netting.
The second half was closely fought again, with United defender Liam Harding headed off the goal line to deny Cox midway through. Towards the end, Horsell safely gathered headers from Adam Mann and Louis McGrory, as it finished goalless.
