YATE motor cycling ace Luke Hedger and his team had a long trip to the prestigious Assen TT circuit in the Netherlands  for the only European round on the SuperSeries race calender and it has been a race which has always been difficult  for Hedger.
Although he  enjoys the circuit, he never gets much luck there.
Qualifying went really well and he was so close to a second row start but rain played its hand and, just as Hedger was gearing up for his quick lap, the session got red flagged due to the rain.
However, he still put himself and his Gearlink Kawasaki in seventh place for Saturday's sprint race.
As race one got under way, Hedger found himself losing  a place of the start but he felt he could still do well.
Unfortunately this was not to be the case as he crashed on lap three, luckily remaining uninjured and he managed, in this short time, to set the eighth fastest lap, so  would start Sunday’s feature race still on row three but just one place back.
Hedger got a good start in the feature race but a fellow rider collided with him off the start, hitting him heavily.
He managed to stay on his bike but this knocked him back to 15th place, although he did manage to claw his way back to ninth but the collision and another crash earlier caused a problem with the bike and he did every thing he could to get himself and his machine home.
He did finish in ninth place and said: "I was very disappointed with the weekend.
"I made a mistake in the first race losing  the front early on in the race  crashing out on lap three.
"I was really hoping to make amends for this in race two but the coming together with a fellow competitor put paid to that."
The next round will be at Silverstone in a fortnight. Hedger has had some good results there and is hopeful that this will be the case this year as well.
