SUCCESS arrived late for Yate’s Luke Hedger but he was glad to ‘finish the weekend on a high’ at Silverstone.
Motor cycle ace Hedger had a bad start to his weekend, suffering an electrical fault which the team have been having trouble to find. He only managed three laps in his first session.
His team, Gearlink, decided to change the whole wiring loom on the bike which sorted out the gremlin.
He was just setting really good times in qualifying when he had a massive 120mph crash with 10 minuets to go and was taken to the medical centre as doctors thought he might have broken his foot.
Thankfully it was just badly bruised and his team had just a few hours to put the damaged bike back in order.
Hedger took his place on the grid for race one in ninth place and managed an eighth place finish
For Sunday’s race, Hedger qualified eighth and got of to a good start before he was boxed in on the first corner and lost out on a few positions.
He was much faster than at any stage all weekend and found himself locked in a big battle for fifth place with four other riders.
The four fought hard all race as Hedger managed to finish sixth at the end of the race.
Hedger said later: “It was nice to finished the weekend on a high and be up the sharp end and a tough battle.
“It was really difficult for me as I was in a lot of pain form the big crash I had the day before but it was really good fun.”
