Yate Town 5 Swindon Supermarine 2

ALEC Fiddes hit an amazing four goals as Yate Town thrashed Swindon Supermarine in the Evo-Stik Southern League Division One South and West at Lodge Road on Saturday.

Yate had to bounce back from their miserable defeat at Marlow last weekend and needed to do so against one of the division’s high flyers.

And they did so in style as Fiddes stuck on 13 and 20 minutes to put his side in charge, with striker Darren Edwards and left back Jake Cox adding the deliveries for his efforts.

The Bluebells turned around 2-0 up but Supermarine brought the deficit back to one goal on 58 minutes.

However, Yate and Fiddes were not to be denied as he completed his hat-trick on 70 minutes with a great strike into the bottom corner of the Swindon net.

Again, Supermarine threatened to pull the game back as they put a ball past home keeper Martin Horsell on 71 minutes.

But Yate pulled away again – and this time it was decisive.

Fiddes smashed the ball with the outside of his foot to get his fourth goal with 12 minutes left and Edwards completed a tremendous win for the Bluebells with a goal of his own minutes from the end.
