YATE TOWN's fans favourite Jake Cox is pleased to be back 'home' after a brief flirtation with an Evo-Stik Southern League Division One South and West rival at the start of this season.
Full-back Cox has picked up Man of the Match awards since his return to Lodge Road in September and believes the club can kick on over the winter to become a real force in the league.
He served at Lodge Road for six seasons in his first spell there and made over 150 appearances, including turning out for Yate Town Reserves, He was awarded Player of the Year at the end of last season.
But he switched to Mangotsfield United during the summer, playing in five matches for them, before deciding he would rather return to Yate.
That happened in September and since then, Cox has again proved a significant handful for opposition defences as he sets up dangerous crosses from the left aimed at strikers Darren Edwards and Jake Jackson.
Cox explained why he returned, saying: "I am enjoying it. It feels like I am back home and where I belong.
"I like playing on this pitch because I run quite a bit. I like playing left-back as well and, when I went to Mangotsfield, I was playing on the wing.
"Obviously, I thought I would rather come back here and play left-back because I am more comfortable in that postion."
Cox is an expereinced head in a new team and he thinks that the Bluebells can push on now towards a bright future.
"I think we can," he said. "With the players we have got and when we get used to playing the style of football the manager (Craig Laird) wants us to play, then our performances will start improving and we will get the results.
"It is sort of getting everyone into the mindset of how we have got to play and keep the ball, be patient and win whether that is 1-0 or 2-0."
And, with Cox providing the danger to the opposition defences, it is just getting the ball into the net that should push the club further up the table.
"It is the final quality in the final third which is where we can struggle."
