YATE TOWN are searching for a new manager less than a month after the resignation of Craig Laird from the Evo-Stik Southern League Division One South and West club.

Laird left the post after a year in the job, and was joined out of Lodge Road by his assistant manager Rob Boyd.

Striker Darren Edwards has been the club’s interim player-manager since Laird’s departure, but Yate have not won in six matches since Edwards took charge, losing four times and drawing twice.

Now, with three games left of the campaign and Yate in mid-table safety, the club have decided to advertise for a new manager.

Their advertisement says: “An exciting opportunity has arisen for the right candidate to be an integral part of the future growth of Yate Town Football Club as first team manager.

“Any suitable applicants that are interested in the role, please could you register your interest by emailing admin@yatetownfc.com before Monday 11th April.”

Edwards said that he has had ‘a chat’ with club chairman Colin Pick about the club and the way forward but it is unknown whether the striker will apply for the job himself or leave it for somebody else to take charge before the summer break and then pre-season training ahead of the next campaign.
