CHIPPING Sodbury produced a disappointing bowling display as they suffered a 137-run home setback against Tewkesbury to slip from top to third in the Gloucestershire division of the West of England Premier League.

The visitors racked up an imposing total of 271-8, Jon Toghill claiming 2-38 from eight and Phil Lill 1-39 from ten.

And it proved to be well out of reach for Sodbury who folded to 134 all out, Craig Scully top scoring on 32 and Lill contributing 29.

Skipper Jamie Rendell will be hoping to bounce straight back on Saturday away to Hatherley & Reddings.

It was a better day for the rest of the club with Sodbury’s four other senior sides all recording wins, led by the 2nds who eased in by seven wickets at Great Rissington who were rushed out for 120, Richard Lane capturing 3-17 from nine while there were also two wickets each for Simon Vooght and Rob Mozelewski.

Adam Febry (51 not) and skipper Jerry Swatton (45) then ensured a comfortable win.

Sodbury 3rds, meanwhile, moved up to fifth in Division Seven of the Bristol & District League on the back of an eight-wicket success at Gordano Valley who were restricted to 146 by Aaron Morgan (4-22) and Mike Pearson (3-10).

Dan Brown then compiled his maiden league half century, going on to finish unbeaten on 83 with Charlie Ross adding 41, in another fine win.

Sodbury 4ths, too, were in fine form in Division 11, overcoming Winford Old Caths by 122 runs.

Captain Damian Frodsham top scored with a superb 96 as his side piled up 244-7 from their 40 before the visitors were bowled out for 123.

There were two wickets each for Harry Phillips and Chris Latham while Naomi Forecast held three catches.

Opener James Millett crashed a career-best unbeaten 82 for Sodbury 5ths who held off Hanham 3rds by four runs in a 32-overs per side contest at Hillesley.

Millett totally dominated his side’s total of 163-5 before Matt Walters (1-14 from six), Tony Garton (1-16 from seven) and Brad Hughes (1-29 from six) kept Hanham at bay in a tight finish.
