Evo-Stik Southern League Division One South and West
Yate Town 3 Salisbury 1
YATE Town secured one of their best victories for a while as they beat Salisbury at the Jelf Stadium on Saturday in the Evo-Stik Southern League Division One South and West.
It now extends Yate’s winning run to three victories and has put them 16th in the table and looking to climb higher.
Salisbury were considered to be one of the toughest teams in this season’s competition, along with Hereford, so the victory for the young Bluebells team is a real boost to their confidence.
And the way they won was just as good as they came from behind to grab the victory.
Salisbury’s Kieran Parselle crossed the ball into the Yate danger area just after the half-hour mark where Tommy Wright headed home.
The Whites were looking comfortable by half-time, but they were to be found out by the Bluebells in the second half.
Mitch Tippins, on as a substitute, crossed into the box where he found Charlie Hitchings to power the ball into the Salisbury net for the equaliser.
The momentum was in Yate’s favour and they went ahead when Tippins again provided the ball for Kyle Thomas to put the ball into the net.
And Jack Ball sealed the fine victory in the closing stages with a great finish to give Yate manager Paul Britton plenty to smile about.
