CHIPPING Sodbury have put themselves in a great position to challenge for second spot in the Gloucester Premier League after a storming victory in a top of the table clash last Saturday.
Sodbury, coached by ex-Bath prop Duncan Bell, faced second-placed Cheltenham Saracens and comprehensively dumped the men from the north of the county, shutting them out for a 22-0 triumph.
Frampton Cotterell secured only their second win of the season – but it was a crucial one at the bottom of the table.
Frampton were on the bottom of the table at the start of the day but leapt up a place and sent Cheltenham North to the basement via a tight 8-7 victory.
But there was no joy for North Bristol as they took on high-flying St Mary’s Old Boys at home.
It was a sixth defeat in eight matches for North as they went down to a 20-7 defeat and now face the task of overcoming runaway league leaders Old Richians on the road this Saturday to avoid back-to-back defeats.
