Cribbs FC 0 Chipping Sodbury Town 1

CHIPPING Sodbury Town landed a top victory away at Cribbs FC on Saturday.

Sodbury lined up with a team that was put together with a few last minute changes that were forced upon them but took to the field with a great attitude.

Sodbury had the majority of the first half possession but couldn’t manage to find the goal their play deserved.

Cribbs didn’t really threaten much during the half and keeper Tim Griffiths looked composed when called upon.

The second half started with Cribbs forcing themselves on the game and they had a few chances to take the lead, one headed attempt hit the underside of the bar and bounced down on the line and was punched away by Griffiths.

Then a bad goal kick resulted in the strikers of Cribbs combining well with one of them running directly into Sodbury’s area and squaring for Darren Edwards who managed to put the ball towards the bottom corner of the net but Griffiths was equal to it smothering the ball and saving it on the line.

In a breakaway attack by Sodbury, the ball was passed to Jack Parker who took on a couple of players and slid a lovely pass to George Box who took his time whilst running into the area.

Box calmly smashed the ball into the net beating the on-rushing ex-Sodbury keeper Ben Read at his near post.

Shortly afterwards, a penalty was awarded to Cribbs but again, keeper Griffiths was equal to it and saved the ball right on the line.

The keeper again had another full length save to make afterwards and this earned Sodbury a great three points away from home.

It was a great team performance from all the players and especially considering that they had to have the help of several reserve players who stepped up to make up the shortfall of others on the day.

And each one of them played a part in the Chipping Sodbury Town victory.
