FRAMPTON Cotterell gave themselves a major boost to Gloucester Premier League survival on Saturday by beating Longlevens by 26-3 with a try bonus point.

It was a match which Frampton could have expected to be closer or even go down to defeat as they lie in 11th place out of the 12 teams in the Premier division.

But they put in a fantastic display to record their fourth victory out of 16 matches and get to within two points of Berry Hill, just above them, and safety.

And the significance of the victory is profound as Frampton face Berry Hill at home this Saturday in a real six-pointer and survival showdown.

Josh Creed was on the end of a big scrum for Frampton on Saturday that ended with a pushover try, while Jason Boon added another touchdown.

Joe Cleary grabbed a try before the fourth to secure the bonus point via Callum Bleakman.

And Chipping Sodbury can do Frampton a favour this Saturday by beating Cheltenham North, who are the side above Berry Hill at the basement.

Indeed, it will be a major boost for Frampton if Sodbury oblige as they travel to Cheltenham North a week on Saturday for another crunch basement clash.

But North Bristol will not be too happy that Frampton stirred the apple cart on Saturday.

The division’s bottom side travel to Longlevens on Saturday and are desperate for a win as they trail seven points behind Berry Hill.
