YATE Town will not be losing any players from their squad for next season and, in fact, will be looking to boost numbers during the summer.

There are no ‘retained list’ ins and outs at the Jelf Stadium this month as the club get ready to review their season that ended well but suffered hiccups during the months of the campaign.

The Evo-Stik Southern League Division One South and West club will be holding their annual presentation night on Friday, starting at 7pm, where they will have Bristol Rovers longest serving player Ollie Clarke as a special guest.

Manager Paul Britton will be among the audience at the stadium clubhouse and, now that the season is done and dusted, he is turning his attention to who can add to the 2017/18 squad rather than who has to be shown the door.

Britton said: “Football has totally calmed down for me now. It has been more tranquil this last week.

“We are looking to retain our players from last season and recruit some others. We cannot sign anyone until July but we have had individual meetings with all the players and had some really good feedback from them.

“Everyone was positive and keen to be with us. So we are not looking to lose anyone this season. We had the same group of players for the last 12 games and we managed to tie down that group.”

It is a difference from a year ago when Britton first took over as manager at the Bluebells when he lost a number of senior players and had to re-build almost from scratch. His phone was red hot for weeks as he tried to develop his squad.

Now he is able to walk his dog and think about the players he would like to see wearing the white jersey.

Britton added: “We have a list of players we are interested in and I have already spoken to these players.

“Obviously we cannot do anything about signing them until July and they can say ‘yes’ in May but then, down the line, it could be a different story.”
