FOURTEEN-year-old batsmen Max Trotman and Owen Lingard both compiled centuries as they shared a partnership of 225 for Winterbourne thirds in a top of the table Bristol and District League Division Six clash with Bath fourths.

The home side, who won the toss, lost two early wickets before recovering in superb style to reach 304-3 from their 45 overs.

Trotman went on to complete his first senior ton before he was out for 124 (15 fours, three sixes) while opener Lingard reached his second century of the summer in men’s cricket and remained unbeaten on 122 (15 fours).

Bath, who started the day in pole position, made a brave bid to reach the imposing target and went into the final over requiring six to win.

Step forward Winterbourne captain Kevin Slade who kept his nerve to close out a two-run victory and finish with figures of 4-47 as Winterbourne leapfrogged Bath to go top.
