Joshua Sillick from Sodbury Tennis Club, recently achieved success at the Yeovil County Level four Tennis (12U) tournament, on Sunday July 9.
Playing the Fast4 Format (short sets) and in very warm conditions, Joshua won the first round 4-2, 4-3(2) taking him straight to the semi-finals.
The next match was slightly more challenging and again went to a tie-break in the first set seeing Joshua coming back from 0-3 down, to eventually win 4-3(4).
His opponent was determined, but Joshua remained focused and went onto win the second set comfortably 4-1.
Joshua, through to the Final, was now facing the number one seeded player and was intent to not come home in second place.
It certainly paid off with a convincing 4-2, 4-0 victory ensuring an overall tournament win.
Joshua hopes to build on this tournament win with further competitions throughout the year.
