Emirates FA Cup preliminary round

Cadbury Heath 1 Yate Town 0

YATE Town have been dumped out of the Emirates FA Cup at the preliminary round stage for the third successive season, with a very disappointing defeat at the hands of Western League side Cadbury Heath.

In a game in which Yate dominated, Cadbury Heath played to their strengths and in the second half, in which they had the slope of the pitch, they headed in from a corner.

Yate started brightly in the first half, and looked the better side. Mitch Tippins testing the keeper from long range early on, but it was straight at the Cadbury Heath stopper who made a simple save.

The hosts had a chance with 18 minutes on the clock, Ex-Yate player Sasha Tong unmarked in the area headed inches wide.

With the down-hill slope of the pitch the hosts took full advantage of this in the second half, as Yate were unable to take advantage of this in the first half.

Within minutes of the restart, Yate found themselves behind, having been undone by a corner kick. Ex-Yate Town player Sasha Tong heading home for Cadbury.

Yate tried to get going in search of an equaliser but struggled to create any clear cut chances due to resolute defending from the hosts.

Kyle Thomas, Brad Norris and Ben Brooks all tried shots from long range to no avail.

The Bluebells lifted their play and Cadbury Heath tried to stem the pressure and disrupt the approach work, but again quality final balls into the box were lacking, and Yate didn’t get that bit of luck they needed to register a score and at least get a replay.
