AFTER only six laps of the famous Silverstone circuit, Yate’s Luke Hedger found himself up in the top ten of the Pirelli Superstock 1000 Championship.

But extremely bad weather was to deny him any more laps of the 3.6 mile track as standing water on Stowe corner made it impossible to race.

Free practice two was to be no better as he had even less time on track with five laps before thunder and lightning closed in, making it far too dangerous.

This was not good for Hedger’s team as they had no time to experiment with different settings.

So experience and reliance on what little data they had was to determine the rest of the weekend.

And although it was not the podium result that Hedger so desperately wants, he gained valuable points to place him up in eighth place in the championship and only 16 points away from seventh.

Luck was not on the Pirelli Superstock 1000 Championships side as qualifying was cut short and Hedger once again only got four laps in before having to pull over due to yet another storm that ended the session.

Twelfth position put him on row four of the grid for Sunday’s single race, so he knew he had to focus on getting a good start.

Some 39 riders were on the start and Hedger had the first corner in his sights.

Hedger, on the EHA Racing Aprilia, overtook Dean Hipwell and he crossed the line in 11th place giving him five Championship points.
