UNBEATEN Yate Ladies second XI went in to Saturday's game full of energy and expectation following a positive run of results.

The messages were clear and, for the very large part of the first half, the ladies lived up to their own expectations and put the game to Redland.

Redland took a 2-0 lead going in to half time- a scoreline very much against the run of play but one that could have destroyed many a team's spirit.

The break gave the girls an opportunity to reflect on an excellent half in which the ladies could see that controlling their own controllables would reap reward. Now the task was to go and win the second half at least 3-0.

They could not have done it any better. The front five attacked with verve and steely determination, ably backed up by a resolute back six who would not allow errors of the first half to haunt them.

The rewards came throughout the half and Yate forced their way back in to the game levelling it at 2-2 with 15 to play. Not happy with the draw the girls went on the hunt to keep their perfect start to the season and did not disappoint with a goal to take the lead with seven minutes to go.

In true Yate fashion, the girls made those final minutes a tense affair but came out victorious with a well earned three points.
