Winterbourne youngsters called up by Team England under-16s for Indoor Cricket World Cup in Australia


THREE members of Winterbourne Under-15 'A' Team have been selected to represent Team England at under-16 level in the seventh Indoor Cricket World Cup in Brisbane this October.

Sam Bracey, George Ford and Marcus Purnell are all Year 10 pupils at The Ridings High School.

Following trials at Nottingham and Canary Wharf in London, their selection for the initial squad was announced at the beginning of April by former England Cricket captain, Mike Gatting Further training and assessment resulted in their selection as travelling members of the 12-man squad.

All three boys will be required to both bat and bowl while Bracey is the also the specialist wicket-keeper.

Following further training days, prior to departure, the boys will travel to Australia at the beginning of October, to participate in a demanding training camp before the competition commences.
