YATE TOWN boss Dave Mogg was frustrated his side were unable to hang on to all three points after they went in front at local rivals Paulton Rovers on Monday night.
They took the lead on 25 minutes when Mark Reynolds headed home from Zayne Simpson’s corner.
But an error from goalkeeper Adam Growcott saw him lobbed by Chris Lane just before the interval.
Although Rovers missed chances, Yate almost snatched victory at the death as Joe White’s effort was cleared off the line.
Mogg said: “They have had a good run lately, their FA Cup game has been well highlighted so I’m pleased with the result but I felt we could have played better and if we had done that, we might have got something more out of the game.
“Two games in three days is a big ask so in hindsight it might turn out to be a good result.
“We haven’t kept a clean sheet in ten games which is a bit of a concern because most of it is down to somebody making an error rather than someone scoring a cracking goal.”
Mogg believes Reynolds’ fourth goal of the campaign on Monday could be the confidence boost the striker needs to flourish at Southern League level.
“He hasn’t got the movement of strikers at a higher level but that’s something I’ve discussed with him and if we give him service I know he can score goals.
“I believe in him, he has to believe in himself and we need to provide him with the ammunition.
Yate have been rewarded for their 2-1 FA Trophy win over Southern League Premier side Bedford Town with a home tie against Hungerford in the next round on October 31.
Jacob Cox scored a wonder goal in that impressive win after being called up from the reserves, who he signed for in the summer.
Mogg said: “Paul Dempsey (Reserve team manager) is fantastic at promoting players from the reserves and recommended Jake.
“I decided to pick him on Saturday and he came up with a great performance. He was a bit subdued on Monday night but we’re asking him to step up several divisions and he showed he’s got a lot of promise.”
“I thought we played really well on Saturday, I’m just a bit disappointed we didn’t put the game to bed earlier and we had to hang on a bit at the end.”
Yate host Andover on Saturday in the league at Lodge Road (3pm).
